Negotiation Skills and Conflict Resolution in Professional Settings

  1. La préparation (BATNA) : Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement.
  3. La résolution de conflits : Utilisation du modèle de Thomas-Kilmann (Compétition, Collaboration, Compromis, Évitement, Accommodation).

Méthodes à maîtriser

  • La méthode DESC pour gérer un conflit :
    • Décrire les faits objectivement.
    • Exprimer ses émotions/ressentis.
    • Spécifier des solutions concrètes.
    • Conclure sur les bénéfices mutuels.
  • Le questionnement ouvert : Utiliser les "5W" (Who, What, Where, When, Why) pour découvrir les intérêts cachés derrière les positions.

Kifach n3ref bli l'autre partie kat-manipuler?

Should I reveal my BATNA to the other party?
  1. Generally, no. Revealing your BATNA can limit your negotiation range.
  2. Only reveal it if it is very strong and you want to signal that you are ready to walk away.
  3. Keep it as a strategic advantage.

What is the difference between a "position" and an "interest" in a negotiation?
  1. A position is what you say you want (e.g., "I want a higher salary").
  2. An interest is the underlying reason or need (e.g., "I need to cover my increased living costs").
  3. Focusing on interests allows for creative solutions that satisfy both parties, whereas focusing on positions leads to a deadlock.

💡 À retenir : Always look for the "Why" behind the "What".

Kifach n7seb l'impact dial BATNA f la négociation?

How do I handle an aggressive negotiator?
  1. Stay calm and do not mirror their aggression.
  2. Use "I" statements to express how their tone affects the process.
  3. Take a break if the tension becomes unproductive.
  4. Refocus the conversation on the technical facts and project goals.

💡 À retenir : Separate the people from the problem.

Chno hiya la différence bin "Compromise" w "Collaboration"?

Is it okay to say "no" during a negotiation?
  1. Yes, but avoid a blunt "no".
  2. Use "No, because..." followed by a constructive explanation.
  3. Offer an alternative or a counter-proposal to keep the dialogue open.

How to prepare for a negotiation meeting?
  1. Define your goals (Must-have vs. Nice-to-have).
  2. Research the other party's interests and constraints.
  3. Prepare your BATNA.
  4. Anticipate potential objections and prepare your responses.

💡 À retenir : 80% of success happens before the meeting starts.

What if we reach a deadlock?
  1. Take a step back and summarize the points of agreement.
  2. Ask for a recess to re-evaluate positions.
  3. Bring in a neutral third party if necessary.
  4. Re-examine the underlying interests rather than the fixed positions.

💡 À retenir : A deadlock is just a signal to change your strategy.

Can I use silence as a negotiation tool?
  1. Yes, silence is powerful.
  2. After making an offer or asking a question, stay silent to let the other party think.
  3. Often, the other party will fill the silence with concessions or more information.

💡 À retenir : Silence is not awkward; it is a strategic pause.

How to maintain a professional relationship after a tough negotiation?
  1. Acknowledge the difficulty of the process.
  2. Focus on the future implementation of the agreement.
  3. Show appreciation for the other party's efforts.
  4. Keep communication channels open.

💡 À retenir : The negotiation ends, but the professional relationship continues.

What is the role of empathy in technical negotiations?
  1. Empathy helps you understand the technical constraints of the other party.
  2. It builds trust, which is essential for long-term engineering partnerships.
  3. It allows you to find solutions that respect the other party's professional reputation.

💡 À retenir : Being an engineer doesn't mean ignoring the human element.
