    • Examples: Freedom of speech (liberté d'expression), right to education, right to vote, right to safety.
    • Examples: Obeying the law (respecter la loi), paying taxes (payer les impôts), voting in elections, respecting others' rights.
    • Key concepts: Volunteering (bénévolat), community service, social engagement, civic participation.

  1. Writing an essay on Citizenship :
  2. Expressing Obligation and Necessity (Grammaire liée) :
    • Must / Have to : Pour une obligation forte.

Question : Complete the sentence with a suitable word: "To be a good citizen, you must respect the law and fulfill your _______."

Question : Rewrite using "in order to": "He joined a local NGO. He wanted to help the poor." Réponse : He joined a local NGO in order to help the poor.

Erreurs fréquentes

  • Confondre "Rights" et "Duties" : Ne dites pas "My duty is to vote" (C'est un droit/privilège) mais "My duty is to obey the law".
Ex: You should help your neighbors (Conseil) vs You must pay taxes (Obligation légale).
