🎯 Health and welfare

1/4

You ______ eat too much sugar if you want to avoid diabetes.

❓ Questions fréquentes

What are "symptoms"?

Symptoms are the signs that show you are sick.

  • Examples : $A\ cough$ (toux), $a\ fever$ (fièvre), $a\ headache$ (mal de tête), $stomach\ pain$ (mal de ventre).

💡 À retenir : $Symptoms = signs\ of\ illness$.

Can I use "must" for advice?

What is a "balanced diet"?

A balanced diet means eating the right amount of different types of food:

  1. Fruits and vegetables (vitamins).
  2. Proteins (meat, fish, eggs).
  3. Carbohydrates (bread, rice, pasta).
  4. Dairy products (milk, cheese).

💡 À retenir : $Balanced\ diet = variety + healthy\ amounts$.

Chno lfarq bin "should" w "must"?

    • Exemple : $You\ should\ eat\ fruit$ (Tu devrais manger des fruits).
    • Exemple : $You\ must\ wear\ a\ mask$ (Tu dois porter un masque).

💡 À retenir : $Should = Conseil$ / $Must = Obligation$.

Kifach nsta3mel "because of" f l'anglais?

  1. Si tu utilises Because, tu dois mettre une phrase complète ($Sujet + Verbe$).
    • Exemple : $He\ is\ sick\ because\ he\ eats\ too\ much\ sugar$.
  2. Si tu utilises Because of, tu dois mettre uniquement un Nom (ou un groupe nominal).
    • Exemple : $He\ is\ sick\ because\ of\ sugar$.

💡 À retenir : $Because + phrase$ / $Because\ of + nom$.

Wach "due to" hiya b7al "because of"?

Oui, exactement !

  1. Due to et Because of sont synonymes.
    • Exemple : $The\ match\ was\ cancelled\ due\ to\ the\ rain$ (Le match a été annulé à cause de la pluie).

💡 À retenir : $Due\ to = Because\ of$ (suivis d'un nom).

What is the difference between "to" and "in order to"?

  2. In order to est un peu plus formel.
  • Exemple : $I\ go\ to\ the\ gym\ to\ stay\ fit$ = $I\ go\ to\ the\ gym\ in\ order\ to\ stay\ fit$.

How can I give advice to a friend in English?

Utilise ces trois structures simples :

  1. Should / Shouldn't : $You\ should\ drink\ water$.
  2. Why don't you...? : $Why\ don't\ you\ go\ to\ the\ doctor?$.
  3. If I were you, I would... : $If\ I\ were\ you,\ I\ would\ sleep\ more$.

How to express the result of a health problem?

Utilise "so" (donc/par conséquent).

  • Structure : $Problem + so + result$.
  • Exemple : $He\ eats\ too\ much\ junk\ food,\ so\ he\ is\ becoming\ obese$.

💡 À retenir : $Cause \xrightarrow{so} Result$.

Is "smoking" a healthy habit?

No, smoking is a very unhealthy habit. It causes many diseases like lung cancer and breathing problems.

💡 À retenir : $Smoking = unhealthy$.

How to use "so as to"?

C'est comme "in order to". On l'utilise pour exprimer le but.

  • Structure : $Action + so\ as\ to + verb$.
  • Exemple : $She\ eats\ vegetables\ so\ as\ to\ stay\ healthy$.

💡 À retenir : $So\ as\ to = In\ order\ to$ (suivis d'un verbe).

What is "sedentary lifestyle"?

It is a lifestyle where a person does not move much and does not do physical exercise (e.g., sitting all day in front of a computer).
