📘 Fiche de cours
L'essentiel du cours

2. Grammar (Les outils linguistiques)
- Modals of Obligation and Advice :
- $Must$ : Obligation forte ou personnelle (ex: We must respect others).
- $Have \ to$ : Obligation externe, liée à une loi (ex: Citizens have to obey the law).
- $Should$ : Conseil ou recommandation (ex: Governments should protect children).
- Expressing Purpose (Le but) :
- $In \ order \ to + \text{base verb}$ (ex: We fight in order to achieve equality).
- $So \ that + \text{subject} + \text{can/could/will}$ (ex: Laws are made so that everyone can live in peace).
- Expressing Contrast (L'opposition) :

- $Despite / In \ spite \ of + \text{noun / gerund (-ing)}$ (ex: Despite the difficulties, justice was served).
Méthodes à maîtriser
Rédiger un paragraphe argumentatif sur un droit ou un problème social :
- Introduction : Définir le concept (ex: Human rights are essential for a fair society).
- Développement : Utiliser des connecteurs de cause ($because, due \ to$) et de conséquence ($therefore, as \ a \ result$) pour expliquer pourquoi un droit est important ou pourquoi il est violé.
- Conclusion : Donner une opinion ou une recommandation (ex: In conclusion, we should all work together to protect these rights).
Exemples corrigés
- Transformation (Grammar) :
- Question : He studies hard. He wants to pass the exam. (Use "in order to")
- Réponse : He studies hard in order to pass the exam.
- Vocabulary in context :
- Question : Every person deserves ________ (equal) treatment.
- Réponse : equal (adjectif nécessaire pour qualifier "treatment").
Erreurs fréquentes
- Confondre $Must$ et $Should$ : $Must$ est une obligation, $Should$ est un conseil.
- Erreur après $Despite$ : Ne jamais mettre de sujet + verbe après $despite$. On dit $Despite \ the \ rain$ et non $Despite \ it \ is \ raining$.
- Oublier le "to" après $in \ order$.
